Position Title: Relief Teacher
Reports To: Principal / Relevant Supervisor
Employment Type: As and when required

Role Summary

The Relief Teacher provides temporary classroom coverage in the absence of the regular teacher. They ensure continuity of learning, maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment, and follow the school’s policies, lesson plans, and routines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver lessons according to the plans provided by the regular teacher or the academic department.
  • Ensure a positive, well-managed, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Supervise students during class, transitions, and designated duty periods to ensure safety and proper conduct.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s discipline policy.
  • Provide basic support to students who require clarification or guidance during lessons.
  • Record attendance and report any incidents, concerns, or irregularities to the appropriate staff.
  • Ensure classroom materials, equipment, and resources are used responsibly and returned properly.
  • Follow school procedures for emergency drills, safety practices, and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Complete any required administrative tasks related to the lesson or student learning.
  • Collaborate with support staff and communicate with relevant teachers when necessary.
Requirements
  • Minimum diploma or degree in Education or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Prior teaching or classroom experience preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different subjects, class levels, and learning environments.
  • Responsible, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Familiarity with school safeguarding and child protection guidelines.
