Main Duties of a Construction Safety Officer
1. Site Safety Management
- Ensure all construction activities comply with the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act, MOM regulations, and company safety policies.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify unsafe practices or conditions.
- Stop work immediately if serious safety violations or life‑threatening conditions are observed.
- Monitor high‑risk activities such as lifting operations, confined space entry, hot works, and work‑at‑height.
2. Safety Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain Safety Reports, Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and Permit-to-Work (PTW) records.
- Keep updated records of accident reports, near‑miss incidents, and safety statistics.
- Assist in preparation for audits and inspections by authorities or clients.
- Maintain safety‑related documentation such as MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for hazardous materials.
