About the role

As we continue to grow, Grasshopper seeks an experienced and passionate professional with expertise in trading risk management and regulatory controls to join our team. As a Risk Manager, you will work closely with trading and technology teams to manage new and existing risks in our firm across various technologies, markets, and strategies.

The ideal candidate brings critical risk identification, assessment and management expertise in addition to a critical, quantitative, and proactive hands‑on approach. It will also be your portfolio to sculpt the tools by which to measure, handle and mitigate these risks. Furthermore, this includes risk assessment and management responsibilities for the full suite of market and algorithmic risks.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with trading teams, developers, and trading operation departments to understand our existing needs to measure and manage risk and sculpt the future
• Cover day‑to‑day risk requests, consultations, troubleshoot issues, help trading teams, deal with brokers/exchanges, investigate strategies, monitor pricing exposure, hedging execution and verify trades
• Be able to understand algorithmic trades, identify key risks, and come up with potential risk‑mitigating solutions
• Design, document, and drive improvements in risk monitoring applications and alerting frameworks
• Leverage programming team to maintain and upgrade the overall risk platform

Requirements

• 6 - 8 years of High Frequency Trading risk management and/or trading experience from a multi‑asset proprietary trading firm, multi‑strategy hedge fund, or asset manager
• Experience with electronic trading risk, along with familiarity with exchange connectivity/trading systems
• Strong academic record with a Degree (or equivalent) or concentration in a scientific and/or mathematical discipline. Experience or qualifications relating to quantitative finance is a plus.
• Comfortable with communicating with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including traders, technical staff, middle office and external parties
• Experience with 3rd‑party risk management calculation platforms a plus (E.g. Barra, Axioma, or RiskMetrics etc)
• Knowledge of trade practice and country risk
