A technology services provider in Singapore is seeking a skilled individual for the role of Structured Cabling Technician. The successful candidate will perform installation and maintenance of copper and fiber optic cabling in various environments, coordinate with project teams, and ensure compliance with safety standards. Applicants should have a diploma in relevant fields and 2-5 years of related experience. Travel to customer sites is required, and physical fitness is essential for this role.
ey Responsibilities :
Installation and Maintenance :
Perform installation, termination, labeling, and testing of copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A) and fiber optic cabling in both residential and data center environments.
Support rack and stack activities, including mounting servers, switches, and related IT hardware in racks or cabinets.
Conduct cable routing, patching, dressing, and documentation according to TIA / EIA and company standards.
Troubleshoot cabling faults, connectivity issues, and hardware installation problems using appropriate testing tools.
Perform site surveys and prepare as-built documentation for installations and upgrades.
Coordination and Communication :
Coordinate with data center operations, project managers, and field service teams to align work schedules and project timelines.
Interface with customers and vendors to ensure clear communication of installation requirements and status updates.
Report daily progress, site conditions, and completion status to supervisors or coordinators.
Support logistics coordination, including material delivery, inventory tracking, and equipment handling.
Safety and Compliance :
Adhere to company safety standards and local regulatory requirements when performing installations.
Maintain proper housekeeping in work areas, ensuring cables are managed safely and neatly.
Follow established escalation and incident reporting procedures for any site-related issues.
Qualifications and Skills :
Diploma or certification in electrical, telecommunications, or information technology fields.
2–5 years of experience in structured cabling installation, data center operations, or field technical support .
Strong understanding of cabling standards (EIA / TIA-568, 606, 607, and data center infrastructure.
Experience with patch panels, fiber termination, cable testing tools (Fluke, OTDR), and labeling systems.
Knowledge of basic network concepts (LAN / WAN, switches, routers).
Excellent coordination, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
Physically fit and comfortable working in confined spaces or elevated environments.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer and data center sites.
Preferred Certifications (Optional) :
BICSI Technician or Installer Certification
Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certification
CompTIA Network+ or equivalent networking credential
OSHA / Safety Certification
Work Environment :
Combination of residential and controlled data center settings.
Requires travel to various customer locations and data centers.
May include after-hours or weekend assignments depending on project schedules.
Exposure to indoor / outdoor environments, elevated platforms, and confined spaces.
