About the role

We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to join our dynamic team at K P Chai Engineering & Management Consultants'. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the successful delivery of civil and structural engineering projects in Singapore. As the Resident Engineer, you will be responsible for the supervision of projects, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency throughout the construction process.

What you'll be doing

• Coordinating and supervising on-site construction activities in a responsible manner, to ensure compliance to the design and drawings, specifications, and safety protocols
• Conducting regular site inspections and monitoring progress to identify and resolve any issues, or otherwise report to the QP in a timely manner
• Liaising with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and facilitate effective communication
• Reviewing and approving construction submittals, shop drawings, and material testing reports
• Maintaining detailed project records, including daily reports, design changes, variation orders, and as-built documentation
• Supporting the project management team in addressing design modifications, change orders, and other project challenges
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Resident Engineer or in a similar role within the civil/structural engineering industry, with experience in HDB upgrading projects, if any
• Good personal character, responsible, with professional integrity
• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of construction methods, materials, and quality control procedures
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
• Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety requirements
• Proficient in the use of construction management software and tools
