Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy in Singapore is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer to oversee and supervise civil and structural works for major building and geotechnical projects. The ideal candidate will hold a relevant Bachelor's degree, have at least 5 years of experience in civil engineering supervision, and be accredited as a Resident Engineer. Responsibilities include ensuring high standards of safety and workmanship, managing technical teams, and conducting inspections. This role may require flexible shift scheduling.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Ensure contractors maintain high standards of workmanship, quality, and site safety in accordance with statutory, regulatory, and project-specific safety requirements.
• Provide full-time supervision of civil and structural works to ensure compliance with project requirements, approved construction drawings, and all applicable Building Control Acts and Regulations.
• Supervise and inspect C&S, M&E, and geotechnical works, including but not limited to concreting, pavement works, drainage systems, soil compaction, concrete curing, formwork, propping and de-propping, precast component installation, and structural steel works.
• Lead, manage, and coordinate the team of Resident Technical Officers (RTOs) assigned to the project.
• Work closely with the safety team to implement and monitor WASH and aerodrome safety management systems, ensuring safe work practices are consistently enforced on site.
• Ensure all construction activities are planned and executed without disruption to the client’s ongoing operations.
• Oversee compliance with the client’s emergency preparedness and response procedures during drills and actual emergency situations.
• Carry out any other related duties, including administrative responsibilities, as directed by the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) or the Client.
• Review, verify, and endorse contractors’ submissions, reports, and claims related to civil, structural, M&E, and geotechnical works.
• Conduct inspections on materials and workmanship delivered to site, initiate corrective actions for any non-conformances, and report discrepancies to the Officer-in-Charge (OIC).
• Respond to contractors’ technical queries and coordinate site activities to facilitate smooth and efficient project execution.
• Attend and actively participate in all project meetings, including site progress, coordination, variation, and QA/QC meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering recognised by the Professional Engineers Board (PEB), Singapore.
• Accredited as a Resident Engineer (RE) with the Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES).
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant civil engineering experience, including at least 5 years in the supervision of major Buildings, infrastructures and geotechnical works.
• Willing and able to work shift schedules when required.
