Job summary

A leading university in Singapore is seeking a Research Assistant to conduct fieldwork and laboratory analysis on environmental samples. The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field and have experience in environmental sampling along with strong communication skills in English and Filipino. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare sampling campaign in Philippines.
  • Collect river sediment samples.
  • Archive and prepare field samples for geochemical analysis.
  • Assist in setting up new laboratory infrastructure.
  • Conduct wet chemical treatment of environmental samples.

The Organo-Mineral Group (OMG) within the Asian School of the Environment (ASE) is seeking a Research Assistant. This position is part of a Nanyang Assistant Professor startup grant. The Research Assistant will conduct fieldwork and laboratory analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare sampling campaign in Philippines
  • Collect river sediment samples
  • Archive and prepare field samples for geochemical analysis
  • Assist setting up new laboratory infrastructure
  • Wet chemical treatment of environmental samples
  • HPLC analysis
  • N2 BET surface area analysis
  • Other analyses include elemental and isotopic assessment
Job Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field
  • Field experience for environmental sampling
  • Experience in analytical equipment including in spectroscopy and chromatography
  • As the position requires stakeholder engagement in English and Filipino, candidate should have good written and oral communication skills in English and Filipino
  • Able to independently conduct field and laboratory work
  • Enthusiasm for research and team spirit
