Job description

• Up to $6,000 Basic + Variable Bonus.

• Supporting new product development (NPD), process optimization, and technical innovation.

• Strong background in Chemical Engineering, specifically within chemical manufacturing or food packaging coatings.

• Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm.

• Location: Tuas South

This role sits within the Advanced Materials & Chemical Manufacturing industry. The focus is on specialized chemical engineering, particularly in the development of novel coatings and materials for the Food Packaging sector. This industry is highly technical, requiring a deep understanding of polymer science and chemical properties to create barriers and coatings that are safe for food contact while maintaining high performance and cost-efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Support the conceptualization and development of new products for novel applications, ensuring feasibility and technical soundness.
• Assist in setting up and commissioning new machinery and systems as per project requirements.
• Analyze existing products and processes, recommending and implementing enhancements to improve performance, efficiency, or cost-effectiveness.
• Design, execute, and analyze experiments. Compile data and report findings to guide future development.
• Conduct detailed risk assessments on new materials and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production while safeguarding proprietary processes and intellectual property.
• Provide administrative and coordination assistance to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for seamless project execution and communication across teams.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Materials, or Polymer Engineering/Science.
• 2–3 years of relevant working experience in an R&D or manufacturing environment.
• Strong background in chemical manufacturing; experience with chemical coatings for food packaging is highly preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) or lab equipment for testing.
• Independent, diligent, and demonstrates a positive work attitude.
