Job description

Leong Hup Singapore is a leading food manufacturer, providing poultry meats and halal small goods. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive QA Executive to join our quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring that our products and processes meet established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. This position is critical to maintaining operational excellence and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

a. Food Safety and Quality Management

  • Establish a concise reference manual of standardized practices and procedures, and provide a reference against which current practices and proposed improvement can be factually assessed.
  • Maintain, review and update process flow, SOP and product specification.
  • Ensure documented food safety system manual meets the requirements of FSSC / ISO 22000.
  • Maintain, review and update FSSC / ISO 22000 system and documentation.

b. Food Safety and Quality Audit

  • Learn applicable regulatory requirements and customer-specific food safety and quality management standards.
  • Conduct internal and supplier audits.
  • Facilitate the regulatory inspection, customer audits and visits.

c. Customer Specification and Regulatory Requirement

  • Assist in coordination with external parties re: process/product translation, review and/or improvement.
  • Maintain and update customer-provided documents; ensure documents on file are updated.
  • Handle customer and regulatory audit.
  • Handle and address customer queries, feedback and complaints.
  • Collection of retention sample for traceability.
  • Check compliance of new and existing products to relevant and applicable requirement.
  • Keep up-to-date on regulatory requirement; ensure necessary changes are done should there be any amendment/ update on regulatory requirement.

d. Quality Assurance

  • Analyze data gathered in monitoring and generate reports highlighting information relevant to product quality and safety.
  • Represent QA department on all product development, use/ purchase of new equipment and proposed layout changes.
  • Work with QA and Production in reviewing existing process.
  • Assess opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, root cause analysis and provide CAPA, when necessary.
  • Conduct routine surveillance check on GMP, CCPs, plant hygiene and sanitation.
  • Compile and analyse the monitoring records, lab test report, pest control report and customer complaint.

e. Quality Control

  • Conduct new raw material evaluation.
  • Monitor product compliance through in-line data collection and statistical analysis.
  • Ensure raw materials received and finished products to be released are in compliance with agreed specification.
  • Maintain the compliance calendar on calibration, lab test and certification activities.

f. Sensory Evaluation

  • Spearhead sensory evaluation of improved and/or newly developed products.
  • Conduct necessary data analysis to assist Sales & Marketing and Product Development in decision making.

g. Staff Training

  • Conduct staff briefing to newly hired staffs, and refresher training in basic food handling requirements, as scheduled.
  • Prepare training materials, and ensure that topics are aligned with requirement.

h. Others/ Inter-departmental Coordination

  • Provide support to sales team on supplier evaluation form, enquiry on food safety and quality system, etc.
  • Support in R&D and other continuous improvement projects.
  • Document risk assessment and line validation for any process changes inside production.
  • Coordinate/ handle projects with regards to process/ productivity improvement, plant renovation, plant layout, etc.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Requirements:

  • a. Minimum Degree in Science, preferably Food Technology, Chemistry, Engineering or any equivalent or relevant field, and/or Diploma/ Advanced Diploma with at least 2 years of relevant experience
  • b. Have experience in relevant FSMS such as ISO / FSSC 22000, and/ or other GFSI-recognized standards
  • c. Preferable trained internal auditor.
  • d. Have a good grasp of meat/ingredients properties and interaction
  • e. Sharp attention to details
  • f. Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • g. Great team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision
