Job description

Position: Project Engineer - Static Equipment Engineering

Department: Chemical Engineering

Position Summary:

• Responsible to manage small scale maintenance, upgrading and efficiency improvement project with our clients, starting from conceptual study, FEED, estimation, detail engineering and execution till commissioning.
• Responsible for engineering activities such as FEED, detail design, vendor print review etc, for static and furnace engineering.
• Responsible for after sales activities for established clients and completed projects. This includes participating in planned, periodic, breakdown and shutdown maintenance, spare parts management and advisory services on technical issues.
• Key account holder for the established clients for all after sales activities.

Responsibilities

Project Management: 60%

• Responsible for managing and executing a small-scale project for existing and established clients. This includes but not limited to spare parts supply, technical discussions, conceptual studies, FEED engineering and development of small-scale maintenance projects.
• Execution of brown field projects and vendor supervisors to support their operation and maintenance activities for Chemical Plants. This includes planned, periodic, breakdown and shutdown maintenance, spare parts management and advisory services on technical issues.
• Estimate project cost and take necessary approvals.
• Manage, coordinate & control all project works to ensure project is executed according to specifications and within schedule & approved budget.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors and client representatives to meet project objectives and shutdown schedules.
• Coordinating between entities for necessary documents and information to support the project execution.
• Appraise higher management & client with project reports and seek help wherever required.

Engineering of Static & Furnace equipment: 30%

• Conceptual design of static and package (furnace) equipment with the support of discipline engineers.
• Preparation of specification, datasheet and drawings of static equipment.
• Selection of vendor/fabricator and pre-qualification.
• Conduct technical/clarification meetings with vendors/contractors to finalize the design.
• Review vendor drawings & provide necessary approvals.
• Prepare ITP and attend to necessary vendor inspection.

After Sales: 10%

• Responsible for arrangement of vendor and in-house supervisors for any maintenance jobs.
• Work hand in hand with client for root cause analysis and providing expertise to the recurring problems, hence ensuring smooth operation.
• Participate in technical discussions and work.
• Support the estimation process for small scale projects such as modification, rectification, capacity up, process improvement for existing clients.

Other - Department Activities

• Take part in development of individual project procedures and SOP required for smooth execution of projects.
• Take part in other training and developmental activities for the group.
• Work for service promotion and other promotional activities.
