Job description
Job Scope

The Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the deployment, installation, and commissioning of data center infrastructure and IT systems. This includes managing cabling works, server and network equipment setup, troubleshooting, and ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and safety requirements.

The role requires strong hands‑on technical capability coupled with project planning and coordination skills. The Project Engineer will work closely with project leads, clients, vendors, and technicians to ensure smooth project execution from construction phase to data center handover.

Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, and supervise installation and commissioning activities of data center equipment including servers, storage, network devices, and power systems.

  • Review and interpret rack elevation drawings, patching matrices, and network diagrams to ensure correct deployment and cabling layout.
  • Oversee structured cabling works (fiber and copper), ensuring compliance with standards and best practices for labeling, routing, and management.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to manage equipment delivery, unpacking, installation, and inventory tagging (asset tag, serial number, MAC address, etc.).
  • Ensure all installation and patching works are executed per approved documentation and safety procedures.
  • Support site acceptance tests (SAT), troubleshooting activities, and issue resolution during deployment and commissioning.
  • Prepare project reports, documentation, and updates for management and clients.
  • Enforce site discipline, cleanliness, and adherence to EHS standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians and contractors to ensure work quality and project compliance.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Project Manager or Senior Engineer.
Requirements
  • Prior hands‑on experience in data center environments including rack & stack, cabling, patching, and hardware installation.
  • Strong understanding of fiber and copper cabling types (SMF, MMF, MPO, MTP, CAT6A) and related termination practices.
  • Familiarity with server and network components (routers, switches, PDUs, NICs, storage arrays, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of data center cooling, airflow management, and power redundancy systems.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting technical drawings and documentation.
  • Detail‑oriented with excellent organization, documentation, and time management skills.
  • Proactive problem solver with the ability to work independently and within teams.
  • Able to lift and handle IT equipment weighing up to 20 kg when necessary.
  • Good communication skills in English (verbal and written).
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in data center infrastructure or ICT project implementation.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or Data Center Infrastructure certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience with operating systems and virtualization (Windows Server, Linux, VMware) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience managing contractors and coordinating with cross‑functional project teams.
