A leading technology company in Singapore is seeking an experienced Advanced Recording Principal Engineer to develop and lead advanced HAMR features for innovative hard disk drive products. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in read channel development and a strong background in programming languages such as C, Matlab, and Python. Qualifications

• PHD preferred or Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Microelectronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science or Data Science.
• Over 10 years of experience in read channel development or communication systems.
• Knowledge of recording subsystems, heads, media and read-write channels is advantageous.
• Familiar with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and waveform generators.

About our group:

The Design Engineering group comprises of teams across functionalgroups of ARS, Electrical Integration, Servo, Mechanical, Test Process and Firmware.

The Advanced Recording sub-system, or ARS in short, is a highly bonded group that consists of specialists in various sub-groups of HDE (Head Disk Electrical), HDM (Head Disk Mechanical) & Channel preamp.

We are looking for an outstanding Advanced Recording Principal Engineer to join our team in supporting our organization growth. In this role, you will be involved and responsible in the future of hard disk drive product development to advance & support the fast-growing enormous data needs of the future. This is an individual contributor role based in Singapore, reports to the Senior Director (Hardware Engineering-ARS) based in USA & locally liaise to support Singapore-based Senior Manager (Hardware Engineering-ARS-HDE).

About the role – you will:

• Develop & Lead in advanced HAMR features for key HAMR products.
• Conduct Training for ARS engineers (not limiting to other engineers from Hardware Engineering) to participate in different level of engineering work from program drive development to advanced research engineering.
• Support ARS engineers in design algorithms and read channel / preamp / laser parameters optimization.

Skills and Experience

• PHD preferred or Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Microelectronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science and Data Science.
• Minimum >10 years of experience in read channel development, magnetic recording components or communication systems.
• Knowledge of recording subsystems including heads, media and read-write channels, preamp, lasers will be advantageous.
• Knowledge of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and waveform generators will be advantageous.
• Knowledge of Programming language C, Matlab, Python is an added advantage.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel)
• Self-motivated, independent and a team player with strong analytical skills.
