About the role
The implementation of Modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a critical step in Rio Tinto’s transformation journey, moving from outdated technology (ECC6) to a new, digitally enabled lean core platform (S/4) and application ecosystem. As this is a business led, Group-wide transformation effort, it requires a strong team to bridge the business and technology landscapes. Rio Tinto is look to modernize the Order to Cash and Logistics processes by making it simpler, reorganizing work and driving up automation levels through deploying a modern ERP as core and supporting best in breed technologies across the process.
The Architecture Lead comes from the Strategy & Architecture Chapter and takes direction from both the IS&T Program Lead, within the Modern ERP Program. The Architect Lead is a top talent across ERP Design, Applications and Processes, with extensive SAP S/4 HANA deployment experience. This role is primarily tasked with leading / directing the architecture team(s), ensuring a consistent and coherent Modern ERP design, aligned to Rio Tinto strategic vision
Reporting to Head of Strategy & Architecture(Chapter Group Lead), you will:
- This role contributes to customer engagement, crafting and providing guidance on business vision, for Modern ERP, to ensure delivery of optimal outcomes.
- Lead a team of architects, and related roles, ensuring consistency of design and clarity of focus.
- Collaborate in the creation of architecture vision, strategy and supporting execution roadmap, aligning with the corporate and IT strategy, industry trends, tooling, methods, and best practices.
- During implementation, execute quality checks that ensure adherence to outcomes and alignment to strategic vision.
- Work closely with the GPO’s to identify opportunities for optimisation and recommend leading (best) practice, specifically related to solution design / delivery.
- Work closely with internal IS&T teams to provide guidance and support high quality solutioning and architecture discipline across the Modern ERP Program.
- Provide support to the Program on RFP submissions and relevant Statements of Work and SAP Bill of Materials, specifically for resource estimations.
- Provide support to maintain the quality of the design and configuration of Modern ERP during the transition to BAU.
- Work closely with internal IS&T teams supporting Modern ERP, not limited to Strategy & Architecture, Core Platforms, Data Migration Teams, System Integrators.
- Work collaboratively with other IS&T teams to assess impacts on technical decisions occurring outside of Modern ERP, namely across Finance, HR, Procurement and IS&T Reporting and Analytics teams.
- Ultimately, this role is accountable for the design and adherence to vision, for all architecture aspects of the Modern ERP program.
What you will need for the role
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Relevant degree qualifications.
- 10+ years of experience in deployment of SAP S/4HANA-centric, ERP solutions including but not limited to Finance, Procurement, Asset Management.
- Strong understanding of the SAP product roadmaps specific to each functional domain and deep functional knowledge of the specific domains.
- Strong understanding on ERP (particularly S/4HANA) integration strategies.
- Demonstrated experience and success working strategically and collaboratively with cross functional teams operating out of different geographical locations.
- Demonstrated team leadership with the proven ability to lead a team of multiple architecture disciplines (e.g. Enterprise, Solution, Technical, Data) across a significant sized ERP Program of Work.
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional working relationship with their peers and demonstrates constant commitment to teamwork.
