Job description

Overview

The role of the Podiatrist is to provide Podiatry services within a multi-disciplinary setting. The Podiatrist is able to assess, diagnose and treat common conditions for:

• Ingrown toenails, fungal nails, conditions that affect the skin of the foot such as callus, corns, and verrucae
• Biomechanical foot related problems; prescribe footwear, orthotics, offloading devices, stretches and taping
• Management of wounds below the ankle; conduct wound debridement, maggot therapy, prescribe VAC therapy and wound dressing selection

Responsibilities

• Staff who is certified by an Orthopaedic Surgeon can carry out risk assessments for surgery and to perform Partial or Total Nail Avulsions under local anaesthesia.
