Phlebotomist Assistant_Acute Medical Unit

Job Function: Allied Health

Institution: National University Hospital

Provide assistance to the healthcare staffs by providing venepuncture service and rendering basic care for patients in Acute Medical Unit

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform venepuncture for the collection of blood specimen for dispatch to the laboratory
  • Update in electronic medical record for blood specimen that has been collected and dispatched to the laboratory
  • Perform blood sugar check using a POCT machine
  • Practice universal precautions when performing any procedure
  • Perform inventory management in the ward
  • Assist healthcare staff in re‑positioning of patient in bed
  • Assist in improving, identifying and implement changes in the work processes of the Phlebotomy service
  • Orientate and guide new Phlebotomy staff
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the nursing supervisors
Job Requirements
  • Higher NITEC or Diploma in Nursing
  • Phlebotomist certification by recognized institutions.
  • Minimally 2 years’ experience in performing venepuncture.
  • Customer service oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Able to work in an acute medical in‑patient ward setting.
