Job description

The Pastoral Team Staff (PTS) will handle a range of essential responsibilities across both core and outreach ministries of Oasis. These duties and responsibilities span across all age groups-including children, youth, young adults, older adults and seniors-as needed or as directed by the Head of Ministry (HOM). PTS may also be called upon to assist in areas beyond their immediate job scope as and when required.

The role will involve supporting the outreach ministry goals-specifically in the areas of the Tuition Programme, Praise Kidz, and Social Concerns , by working closely with the Head of Ministry (HOM), Pastors, and relevant committees. It will require a willingness to work on non-traditional schedules which includes evenings and weekends, with the flexibility to get time off on a weekday.

This includes facilitation of stakeholder meetings, engaging with vendors / volunteers, students and parents, overseeing logistics and publicity, maintaining accurate records, and utilizing appropriate technology, as well as supporting other ministries as needed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Core Ministries
Sunday Service Ministry
  • Assist in leading and supporting Sunday worship services as needed.
  • Handle logistical arrangements during Sunday services.
Sunday School Ministry
  • Teach a Sunday School Class as needed or directed by the Head of Ministry.
Outreach Ministries
Oasis Saturday Tuition Programme
  • Academic Support & Customization: Provide structured academic help with tailored learning plans to meet students' individual needs.
  • Supervision & Feedback: Oversee tuition sessions, track progress, and offer feedback to students, tutors, and parents.
  • Event Coordination: Organize enrichment activities and appreciation events for students and tutors.
  • Volunteer Management & Mentorship: Recruit and mentor volunteer tutors, and provide recognition, VIA certification, and testimonials for individual and group contributions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with partner schools and Epworth Community Services.
  • Resource Development: Develop and manage resources to support the tuition programme's goals and effectiveness.
Praise Kidz Outreach Programme
  • Programme Support: Support the planning and running of this community-based outreach programme that engages community children and introduces them to the gospel.
  • Child Engagement: Support and work with volunteers in building trusting relationships with the children through mentorship and meaningful interaction.
  • Family Outreach: Conduct home visits to connect with families, strengthen relationships, and share the gospel.
Social Concerns
  • Financial Aid Coordination: Manage applications and disbursements for Seasonal Love Gifts and Educational Bursaries to support those in need.
  • Community Outreach: Organize outreach efforts that mobilize congregation members to serve and bless the wider community through service projects.
  • Pastoral Care & Visitation: Provide emotional and practical support through home visits and regular engagement with individuals and families facing hardship.
Others
  • Regularly assess the Oasis BRMC Mission needs of the congregation.
  • Implement and review strategies and structures to make disciples for Christ in Bukit Batok and beyond.
  • Identify, recruit, train, and develop volunteers and lay leaders to take on the role of ministry partners and helpers.
  • Maintain an awareness of the spiritual health of volunteers, and where needed, provide or direct them to pastoral care.
  • Execute all programmes and activities with sound budgeting and financial management.
  • Execute all programmes and activities in compliance with church policies and guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Diploma, Degree, or Postgraduate certification in the areas of Theology, Divinity, Christian Ministry, Education, or other closely related fields.
Relevant Experience and Skillsets
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; able to engage effectively with staff and lay congregants at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with, befriend and relate to individuals including children and youth.
  • A proactive, teachable, and innovative team player who is self-motivated and open to learning.
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong administrative and organisational abilities.
  • Willing and able to adopt and lever new technologies when appropriate.
  • Capable of providing basic pastoral care.
  • Prior involvement in youth and children's ministry-either personally or within a church setting-is a plus.
