Job summary

A leading public healthcare institution in Singapore seeks an Operating Theatre Technician to prepare and maintain a clean, safe operating room environment. Responsibilities include supporting surgical teams, managing equipment, and ensuring compliance with hygiene protocols. Candidates should have at least an NITEC or Diploma in Health Services with a preference for those holding a WSQ Higher Certificate. Physical fitness is required to handle surgical equipment.

Working Schedule

5 days work week (Rotating Morning/Afternoon shifts only)

Morning shift – start 8am, ends at 4/5/6pm (depending on workload)

Afternoon shift – start 11am/12pm/1pm, ends at 7/8/9pm (depending on workload)

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain a clean, safe, and functional operating room environment.
  • Check and ensure proper working condition of OT equipment (e.g., suction, diathermy, operating lights, and tables).
  • Assist in patient transfer from trolley to operating table, positioning, and preparation before surgery, from ward to OT and vice versa.
  • Support surgical teams during procedures, including light adjustment and equipment setup before surgery commences.
  • Assist surgeon in application of tourniquet and clear surgical wastes to the disposal room when time allows.
  • Verify and maintain daily inventory of surgical positioning tools.
  • Perform cleaning and restocking of the operating room between cases (within 15 mins) and at the end of the day.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping & maintenance of OT suite which include operating room, prep-room, scrub room, anaesthetic room and sluice room daily.
  • Do terminal cleaning at the end of the list or after infected cases as stated in the protocol.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping of pantry.
Key Requirements
  • Min. NITEC or Diploma in Health Services or relevant fields.
  • Bonus if possess WSQ Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support (Operating Theatre Support).
  • Physically fit to carry surgical equipment boxes.
  • Bonus if possess prior working experience as an Operating Theatre Technician.
