Job summary

We are looking for highly driven individuals to join the Department of Pathology as our Medical Laboratory Technologist. Highly motivated individuals, adaptable histopathology technician with a passion to provide a high-quality histopathology research resources are encouraged to apply.

Technical role:

  • Liaise with different sub-specialist Pathologists and N2CR members on the consolidation of materials and annotation of tissues for Tissue Microarrays (TMAs) construction and its map.
  • Searching (with clinician input) for relevant pathology cases, retrieving and choosing blocks, assisting the Pathologist with tissue annotation
  • Provide relevant histological services (e.g. microtomy) for the N2CR members as and when is required
  • Staff must be able to trim the FFPE block to expose the tissue surface for the construction of TMA.
  • Operationalise consent and prospective sample collection for biopsy, organoid, PDX development; targeting serial or longitudinal samples and data

Admin role:

  • Assist in lab management (Archive and inventoried constructed TMA blocks – tumour library)
  • Uphold research integrity and ensure safety compliance
  • Act as a Liaison among TR, NUS Ex-Path, and N2CR Programme Admin Lead for requesting Pathology FFPE Tissues and tracking for consumables purchases and equipment maintenance (TMA machine).
  • To keep careful records of all tissue samples curated and respective requestors including clinical collaborators and N2CR members

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences, biomedical sciences, biochemistry or equivalent from an accredited University.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in a field related to histology, molecular biology, anatomy or biomedical research will be considered favourably.
  • Experience in tissue microarrays would be an asset
