Job Summary
The Material Analysis Engineer is responsible for conducting material characterization, failure analysis, and root cause investigations to support product development, manufacturing processes, and quality improvement initiatives. This role plays a critical part in ensuring material performance, reliability, and compliance with internal and external standards.
Key Responsibilities

- Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations on raw materials, components, and finished products.

- Analyze material properties and behavior under different conditions to support design and process optimization.
- Process & Quality Support
- Support manufacturing and quality teams in resolving material-related issues and non-conformities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Production, Supplier Management) to improve material selection and application.
- Provide technical recommendations based on analysis results to prevent recurrence of material defects.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare clear and accurate analysis reports, test results, and technical documentation.
- Maintain proper records of material testing, analysis methods, and conclusions.
- Ensure analysis activities comply with internal procedures, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement & Technical Development
- Participate in continuous improvement projects related to materials and processes.
- Stay updated on new material analysis techniques, tools, and industry best practices.
- Support audits, customer inquiries, and technical reviews related to material performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in material analysis, failure analysis, or related engineering roles (fresh graduates with strong technical knowledge may be considered).
- Hands-on experience with material testing and analysis equipment is an advantage.
- Knowledge of material properties (metals, polymers, ceramics, or composites, depending on industry).
- Familiarity with analytical techniques such as SEM, EDS, XRD, FTIR, or similar tools is preferred.
- Ability to interpret test data and provide practical engineering solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills with the ability to present technical findings clearly.
- Detail-oriented, responsible, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Language
- Proficient in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin is an added advantage (if required for supplier or HQ communication).
Working Environment
- Based in manufacturing / laboratory environment.
- Occasional support for production floor, audits, or supplier-related activities.
