We seek a strong communicator whose infectious enthusiasm for literature is matched by a dedication to a cause greater than the self, where the rewards are often intangible, yet profoundly meaningful.

Marketing and Publicity Duties

Author Support and Events

  • Prize Coordination: Coordinate the extensive logistics and successful execution of the prestigious annual Epigram Books Fiction Prize event.
  • Author Management: Maintain excellent author relationships by managing inquiries, arranging appearances, coordinating book signing sessions, sales conferences to industry partners and supporting authors at book launches and all literary events.
  • Event Coordination: Plan, execute, and budget for all book launches and promotional events for new and backlist titles.

Public Relations and Media Strategy

  • Media Outreach: Manage and execute all Public Relations (PR) activities. This includes:
    • Writing and distributing engaging press releases
    • Securing print and online coverage and reviews.
    • Proactively pitching stories and authors to media outlets, and cultivating strong relationships with journalists and critics.
    • Maintaining and strengthening the media contacts and mailing list.
  • Review Management: Manage the distribution of review copies, press releases, and marketing collateral to media, bloggers, and key industry contacts.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Manage communications and represent the publisher with booksellers, stockists, agents, festival managers, and other industry partners.

Campaign, Content, and Partnership Management

  • Campaign Execution: Plan and budget for all marketing campaigns, focusing on channels such as organic social media (and contributing to social media outreach).
  • Partnerships: Identify and execute marketing partnerships and collaborations to expand promotional reach.
  • Collateral Production: Commission, manage, and/or oversee the production of all marketing and publicity materials, including video trailers, social media graphics, book information sheets, and press kits.
  • Financial Administration: Budget for and account for all marketing and PR expenses.
Contract Term

This position begins as a one-year contract, with the possibility of being renewed based on performance and business requirements.

Skills & Experience

  • Dedicated to the details of the work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Commitment
