Role Summary
The Managing Director is the senior executive responsible for the company’s overall performance, strategic direction, and operational leadership. The MD drives sustainable growth, ensures financial strength, builds a high-performing organization, and maintains effective governance, risk management, and stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the company strategy aligned to Board/shareholder expectations.
- Drive business growth through new markets, products, partnerships, and innovations.
- Provide leadership and direction across all functions and business units.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Own full P&L responsibility and deliver revenue, profitability, and cash flow targets.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and performance reviews.
- Drive commercial performance through pricing, sales effectiveness, and customer strategy.
Operations & Execution
- Ensure operational excellence, quality standards, and efficient business processes.
- Lead transformation initiatives to improve scalability, productivity, and service delivery.
- Monitor and manage business risks, compliance needs, and continuity planning.
People & Culture
- Build, lead, and retain a strong leadership team; promote accountability and performance.
- Shape the company culture, employee engagement, succession planning, and capability development.
- Ensure alignment of organizational structure with strategic goals.
Governance & Stakeholder Management
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate governance standards.
- Provide regular reporting and strategic updates to the Board.
- Represent the organization with key stakeholders: customers, partners, regulators, financial institutions, and media as required.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field (required).
- MBA or Master’s degree (preferred).
- 10–15+ years of experience, including 5–8 years in senior leadership roles (GM/COO/CEO/MD).
- Proven track record managing P&L, strategic planning, business growth, and leading multi-functional teams.
- Strong commercial, financial, and operational management capability.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
- High integrity, resilience, and ability to lead in complex or fast-changing environments.
