What the role is

Science Centre Singapore is dedicated to the promotion of interest, learning and creativity in science & technology through imaginative and enjoyable experiences, and to contribute to the nation's development of its human resource.

We are seeking a dynamic and driven individual to join the Education division as Manager, Informal Science Programmes.

The Manager, Informal Science Programmes, is responsible for managing a team that develops and implements immersive science learning experiences, with a focus on Physical Sciences. The role includes supporting physical science programmes, as well as managing stakeholders effectively. This position aims to inspire, engage and empower students, teachers, members of the public and families, while driving visitorship and revenue generation for the Centre.

What you will be working on

You will lead, mentor and coach a team to achieve excellence in their work performance. You will be responsible for delegating and overseeing development work and projects, whilst managing the team's professional development initiatives. This role involves comprehensive management of staff schedules and administrative responsibilities, including conducting appraisals, coordinating leave arrangements, and overseeing training and certification programmes. The position also requires active involvement in supporting our Standards and Quality Control processes to maintain programme excellence.

You will drive strategic initiatives that advance the Education Division's objectives while spearheading efforts to optimise the Centre's performance through leveraging diverse resources, enhancing revenue streams, and elevating visitor engagement.

You will spearhead the Centre's educational initiatives through project and event management. In this multifaceted role, you will conceptualise, direct, and implement high-impact projects and events, ensuring their successful execution from planning to delivery. Your responsibilities will include cultivating and nurturing valuable relationships with sponsors whilst developing compelling content for our educational programmes. This encompasses writing engaging articles, creating informative pamphlets, producing comprehensive handbooks, and developing other essential materials. As an integral member of the team, you will actively promote the Centre's educational programmes and contribute to maintaining their exceptional quality standards.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate should have a tertiary qualification in Physics or equivalent, preferably with post-graduate qualification with at least 8 years of relevant experience.

The role requires good knowledge in modern Science and Technology concepts, complemented by proven project management expertise and demonstrated success in team leadership and development.

The candidate should demonstrate passion and innovation while exemplifying the highest standards of integrity and quality in their work. They should be detail-oriented and adaptable, with a self-motivated approach and an eagerness to continuously learn and enhance their skillset. The ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively will be essential, with exceptional interpersonal, communication and writing skills.

Candidates must be prepared to work on weekends and public holidays, when required.
