Job summary

A government agency promoting inclusive libraries seeks a dedicated individual to improve library access for persons with disabilities. Responsibilities include conducting user research, organizing accessible programs, and monitoring service staff training. What you will be working on:

Responsible for ensuring the library experience is accessible for persons with disabilities by:

  • Developing a good understanding of library users and their profiles through day-to-day ground engagement and various forms of research instruments.
  • Organising inclusive and accessible programmes and ensuring that programmes remain relevant and impactful by evaluating participants’ feedback and analysing data such as participation rates.
  • Adapting the use of assistive tools and technology for library services.
  • Maintaining the quality and relevance of the accessible collection by evaluating and analysing data such as branch collection usage and loan data.
  • Monitoring feedback on capability of frontline service staff and refining training plan and materials to ensure staff are abreast of necessary skills and knowledge to interact with persons with disabilities.
  • Reviewing accessibility of digital content and working with IT colleagues to ensure continued improvements to digital content accessibility.
  • Studying user behaviour in physical spaces so that universal design of the physical space can be enhanced.
  • Building partnerships and collaborating with disability advocates and community partners to further the cause of an inclusive society.
What we are looking for:
  • At least one to two years of relevant experience with persons with disabilities, in project management, community engagement and/or marketing/promotion.
  • Passion for an inclusive society for the disability community in Singapore is necessary.
  • Passion for reading and learning will be an advantage.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Related qualifications in Special Education and Disability Studies will be an advantage.
  • Required to perform shift work and work on weekends.
  • Skills in technology, art, craft, engineering, music, science, green design, and computer software/programmes (video editing etc) is good and can be stated in application.

Successful applicant will be appointed on a project contract till 31 Dec 2026. The work location will be at the Punggol Regional Library.
