Overview
Seeking a Linux Infrastructure Engineer with 3–5 years of hands‑on experience managing enterprise‑grade Linux systems in an on‑premises environment. The role focuses on ensuring stability, performance, and security across production, DR, DevOps, and staging environments while working closely with infrastructure and application teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE) across production, DR, DevOps, and staging environments.
- Perform system administration: patching, performance tuning, log management, and troubleshooting.
- Manage VMware or physical server environments, ensuring availability and capacity planning.
- Participate in lifecycle activities: upgrades, migrations, and hardware refreshes.
- Support backup, restore, and disaster recovery (DR) operations, including periodic DR exercises.
- Implement OS hardening, security compliance, and access controls per corporate policies.
- Maintain monitoring, alerting, and reporting using enterprise tools (Grafana, SolarWinds, etc.).
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, system inventories, and change records.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams for seamless integration and optimal performance.
- Provide support during maintenance windows and participate in standby/on‑call support for critical incidents.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3–5 years of solid experience in Linux infrastructure administration in enterprise environments.
- Hands‑on experience with RHEL/CentOS and VMware virtualization.
- Strong knowledge of networking, DNS, NTP, storage, and backup concepts.
- Familiarity with hardware platforms (Dell, HP, IBM) and firmware management.
- Experience with patching and configuration management tools (YUM, DNF, Ansible, Puppet).
- Good understanding of monitoring and alerting systems.
- Knowledge of shell scripting or automation (Bash, Python).
- Familiarity with change management and ITIL operational procedures.
Good to Have
- DR site operations and failover planning experience.
- Knowledge of containerization (Podman).
- Exposure to backup tools (Veeam, NetBackup, CommVault, etc.).
- Relevant certifications (RHCSA/RHCE, Linux+, VMware VCP).
