Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Lead Structural Engineer is responsible for overseeing the structural design, analysis, and integrity of topside and hull structures for FPSO projects. This role ensures all engineering deliverables comply with international codes, project specifications, and classification society requirements. The candidate will coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, contractors, and clients to deliver cost-effective, safe, and efficient structural solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of structural engineers and designers in developing detailed engineering deliverables for FPSO topsides and hull structures.
• Perform structural analysis and design for offshore structures using appropriate international standards (API, AISC, DNV, ABS, etc.).
• Prepare and review technical documentation such as specifications, calculation reports, drawings, and material take-offs.
• Provide technical guidance and coordination for structural interfaces with other disciplines (e.g., piping, mechanical, naval architecture).
• Ensure structural deliverables meet quality, schedule, cost, and safety requirements.
• Liaise with classification societies and ensure compliance with regulatory and client requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZID/HAZOPs, constructability, and risk assessments.
• Coordinate with fabrication yards, conduct site inspections, and support construction and installation activities.
• Lead technical bid evaluations and vendor document reviews related to structural packages.
• Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge‑sharing initiatives within the organization.

Qualifications And Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 5 years in a lead role on FPSO projects.
• Strong knowledge of offshore structural engineering principles and analysis tools (e.g., SACS, STAAD.Pro, ANSYS).
• Familiar with international codes and standards such as API RP 2A, DNVGL, ISO, and ABS rules.
• Experience with topside module integration, hull structure modifications, and greenfield/brownfield FPSO projects.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑discipline teams and manage interfaces.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
• Willingness to travel and support offshore/fabrication yard activities when required.
