Lead, Experimental Design (IHL)

This position is situated in Singapore’s adult learning and workforce development sector, within a leading applied research environment that supports national lifelong learning goals. The role focuses on pioneering new approaches to experimentation in adult learning, advancing innovation through authentic, community-based research and distributed experimentation models. Central to this work is building the capacity of stakeholder groups to co-design and conduct field research in their own practice settings, ensuring that the research process itself strengthens the ecosystem while generating actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Research Leadership: Shape, direct, and oversee distributed experimental research efforts, including the design of protocols and experimentation playbooks that equip community stakeholders to test innovations in authentic practice settings.
  • Data and Analytics: Develop and implement fit-for-purpose approaches to data collection and analysis across diverse experimental contexts, leveraging accessible analytics outputs that can be readily used by non-academic stakeholders.
  • Knowledge Translation: Deliver both academic publications and practitioner-oriented reports to disseminate findings broadly and support the scaling of promising innovations.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate research degree (PhD or Master’s) in the social sciences
  • Experienced in managing a small team
  • At least 8 years of relevant research in social science domains.
  • Strong track record in experimental and/or applied research, with openness to methodological innovation and community-engaged approaches (e.g. participatory action research, field experiments, distributed/multi-site trials).
