WEnergy Global is looking for a driven Lead Business Development Manager to help expand our renewable energy footprint in the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector in Singapore, Malaysia (Johor) and neighbouring islands of Indonesia. In this role, you will identify and engage high-potential clients, build a strong pipeline of Solar PV and clean energy opportunities, and lead negotiations to close impactful projects. Working closely with our Engineering and Finance teams, you will craft compelling proposals, elevate our sales processes, and ensure exceptional client experiences from first contact to project delivery. Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Driving Sales Growth: Identify and engage potential clients in the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector to implement Solar PV projects with or without BESS. Lead efforts to deploy rooftop, ground-mounted, battery storage systems, or other renewable energy systems to meet commercial goals and support green growth objectives.

  • Market Mapping and Customer Engagement: Develop and implement strategic approaches to identify, analyse, and target potential customers across key C&I sectors in Singapore and its immediate region in Malaysia and Indonesia.

  • Lead Generation and Acquisition: Build a robust pipeline of project leads through strategic marketing in target customer networks and key decision makers.

  • Proposal Development, Negotiation and deal-closures: Collaborate with WEnergy Global’s Engineering and Finance teams to create customized, robust proposals. Lead negotiations with clients to secure contracts and close deals.

  • Sales Process Innovation: Enhance and standardize the marketing and sales process, including CRM, lead generation and tracking, and after-sales engagement.

  • Reporting and Planning: Contribute to business planning, forecasting, and progress reporting on unified sales pipeline and targets. Develop comprehensive post-sales project plans with clear timelines, tasks, and milestones.

Competences and capabilities

The candidate would possess the following capabilities and qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business Studies

  • Experience: At least 7 years' experience in selling complex, high-value B2B solutions involving technical, commercial and financial structuring—preferably in energy, utilities, infrastructure or real estate development. Experience with solar PV or renewable energy technologies is highly desirable.

  • Leadership and Initiative: Ability to work independently with a strong sense of responsibility and initiative.

  • Persuasive Communication: Able to communicate to both mid and high-level decision-makers, present complex technical solutions confidently, and respond to client queries effectively in collaboration with senior team members.

  • Networking and Partnership Building: Proven track record in developing and managing networks with industrial contacts and key decision makers in Singapore (and its neighbouring regions), and expanding marketing reach through industry events and partnerships.

  • Financial Acumen: Capability to analyse commercial and financial structures (PPA terms, tariffs, lease models, build-transfer pricing) and articulate value propositions to C-suite decision makers in industrial and commercial sectors.

  • Client-Centric Approach: A strong focus on client satisfaction and relationship building.

  • Language Proficiency: Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral).

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, able to use AI tools (ChatGPT or equivalent) proficiently to gather and analyse data to craft compelling sales presentations and tools.
