Job Description

The Cardiovascular-Metabolic Disease Translational Research Programme (CVMD-TRP) at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, under the leadership of Professor Roger Foo, is dedicated to advancing the understanding of cardiovascular metabolic diseases and developing innovative therapies that can make a real difference in the lives of patients. We are mobilising our collective talent and resources for comprehensive research – encompassing molecules, DNA, RNA, cells, clinical trials, computational and data science, implementation, behavioural and social science.

A Laboratory Technician position is available, and we invite you to apply. The successful candidate will assist with tasks vital to processing clinical samples (blood, urine, saliva) from healthy participants and biobanking those samples. Full training will be provided.

The successful candidate will be awarded a one-year (renewable) contract at first instance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receive, sort, label, and process bio-samples according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Demonstrate good pipetting skills with a comprehensive, systematic approach to maximise pipetting accuracy and repeatability to improve sample quality.
  • Ensure biobank samples are correctly catalogued and managed in sample tracking databases.
  • Update and maintain the records in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Assist in daily operation of biobanking activities, including but not limited to retrieving samples and verifying sample submissions.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritise and multi-task.
  • Show strong initiative and follow through with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Follow all safety requirements and procedures and always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working in the laboratory.
  • Work independently and as a team contributor.
  • Show excellent organisational and time management abilities to effectively manage workload.
