Job summary

A chemical plant facility in Singapore is looking for a Laboratory Technician to conduct testing and analyses of production samples. The ideal candidate should hold a diploma in Applied Chemistry or a related field and ideally have 5 years of experience. Responsibilities include performing analyses, calibrating equipment, and maintaining documentation. Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply as well. The position requires a team player with good communication skills and the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts.

Job description

Reporting to Senior Laboratory Supervisor, this position will perform laboratory testing and ad-hoc analyses of production samples of Alpha-Olefin Copolymers, namely TAFMER™ & EPR products, for the chemical plant.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily shipment and non-routine analysis of in-process and finished products in accordance to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and safe work procedures
  • Perform basic calibration for laboratory equipment to ensure that they are maintained in good working condition
  • Carry out documentation control for test results and ensure proper documentation of laboratory work and quality control records in accordance to the SOP
  • Prepare density columns for grade transition for in-process and classification testing
  • Ensure that good housekeeping is maintained in the Laboratory
  • Provide support for Laboratory-related assignments as and when assigned by immediate superior
Requirements
  • Diploma in Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or an equivalent discipline with 5 years of relevant experience
  • Entry level candidates without experience are welcome to apply
  • Self-motivated and able to multi-task
  • Team player with initiative and good communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Able to perform rotating 12-hour morning shift work
  • Able to perform overtime work if required
  • Willing to work in Jurong Island
