Overall Objective
Serve as a CMI business partner with responsibility for specific categories and/or global customers. Share CMI expertise with internal and external stakeholders. Regional or cross regional specific expertise.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead CMI strategy of regional and cross regional MR projects, identification of methodology commissioning and set‑up, manage cost data analysis, interpret data to find insights that will help fragrance development as well as selling fragrances.
- Act as MR expert in direct contact with clients to discuss and review CMI strategies, methodologies and results.
- Manage data to ensure CMI data is stored centrally and accessible for future reference.
- May play a key role in the global CMI community through specific CMI driven cross regional initiatives.
- Act as CMI business partner for internal stakeholders working closely on projects throughout the development cycle, providing in‑depth interpretation of results to guide fragrance development and selection and to build rationale to support submissions.
- Continuously build CMI expertise and share with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead innovation exploring new ideas and experimenting with new methodologies.
- Work with category teams to think strategically, identify opportunities and gaps in knowledge where CMI can help develop to feed the development process.
- Team Management:
- Management of team of CMI Managers in SEA countries – Indo/TL/PH/VN.
- Management of APAC Data Lead Manager – Sgp.
- Set objectives and monitor/coach/guide team towards achievement.
- Monitor workload vs resources from country to country/category to category.
- Develop talent for Category CMI roles in Sgp.
- Recruit suitable CMI talent each country.
- SEA CMI Project Involvement:
- Operational: Follow up/oversee/guide on key projects CMI needs from Dev/Sales.
- Monitor/guide/challenge MR test design.
- Decode insights from data together with team; guide team to generate insights.
- Monitor end‑to‑end project delivery (execution part); guide CMI team in the process of execution and monitor execution and cost of agencies.
- Leverage/standardize best practices across SEA CMI team and across categories.
- Strategic: Think out of box to inspire CMI and CFM/Marketing/Sales to challenge status‑quo/ways of working.
- Bridge gaps between CMI and stakeholders in terms of approaches and deliverables.
- Client facing to showcase Givaudan CMI capability.
- Introduce new/different tools to optimize CMI capability.
- Partnership with CDs/CCD in Singapore:
- Financials: CMI budget management, tracking quarterly spend, explaining high spends; monitor CMI agency for quality x cost x value.
- Operational: Best practice refresher for evaluation, onboarding Category CMI, decode insights, part of submission team, leverage/standardize best practices.
- Knowledge expertise: Introduction/training of new tools (e.g. G Sight/My Roma), present at critical high‑level meetings, train category CMIs.
- Global CMI Support Roles:
- Selective global initiative.
- Contribute to new global tools/ways of working.
- Connect with other CMI Directors across regions/sub‑regions.
Functional / Technical Skills
- Verbal and written command of English (and local language as required).
- Proficiency in using common PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in using data analysis software (SPSS, XLSTAT, Matlab).
- In‑depth understanding and use of inferential and multivariate statistics and experimental design.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Effectively plans and leads and communicates all required functional steps in the CMI project.
- Able to show leadership in managing complex cross‑regional CMI projects.
- Ability to coach, mentor and manage more junior colleagues.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of MR theory and methodologies.
- Understands legal & regulatory guidelines/restrictions for CMI testing.
- Stays up to date with latest developments/techniques in the CMI profession.
- Expertise in analyzing large data sets and drawing strategic conclusions and implications.
- Able to interrogate data to develop hypotheses for fragrance development and arguments to support submissions.
- Advanced knowledge of market dynamics and trends for specific country categories as required.
- Solid understanding of fragrance (olfactory families, main benchmarks, etc.).
