About the Role
Our client is a fast-growing, technology-driven organisation operating within the energy and industrial technology sector, undergoing a significant phase of digital transformation across manufacturing and enterprise operations.
They are seeking an experienced IT Director to lead enterprise IT strategy, digital platforms, and IT–OT convergence across mission-critical environments. This role plays a key part in enabling smart energy systems, connected assets, and secure digital infrastructure.
This position requires close collaboration with regional and China-based stakeholders, as well as frequent travel to support business operations and technology initiatives across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
IT & Digital Strategy
- Define and execute a multi-year IT and digital roadmap aligned with manufacturing scale, energy operations, and sustainability objectives
- Partner with senior leadership to enable smart infrastructure, digital platforms, and advanced analytics
- Drive alignment and integration across IT, OT, and engineering systems in industrial environments
Energy & Industrial Systems
- Oversee technology platforms supporting energy production and manufacturing operations
- Lead integration of SCADA, DCS, EMS, MES, and IoT platforms with enterprise IT systems
- Enable real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and asset performance management
- Support the development of smart factories, smart grids, and connected assets
Cybersecurity & Resilience
- Establish and maintain a robust cybersecurity posture across both IT and OT environments
- Ensure compliance with applicable industrial and energy security standards
- Lead disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and incident response for critical infrastructure
IT Operations & Service Excellence
- Oversee global IT operations including infrastructure, networks, end-user computing, and service delivery
- Ensure high availability and performance of mission-critical systems supporting 24/7 operations
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, service optimisation, and cost efficiency
Financial & Vendor Management
- Own IT budgets, capital planning, and technology investment prioritisation
- Assess ROI for digital and industrial technology initiatives
- Manage strategic partnerships with technology vendors, cloud providers, and system integrators
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of progressive IT leadership experience within Energy, Utilities, Industrial, or High-Tech Manufacturing environments
- Proven experience leading large-scale digital transformation and IT–OT integration
- Experience supporting regulated, safety-critical, and high-availability operations
- Strong ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders with both business and technical credibility
- Proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin as the role involves regular communication and reporting to Mandarin-speaking stakeholders based in China
- Willingness and ability to undertake frequent regional travel to support operational sites, stakeholders, and project implementations
