Job summary

A leading technology service provider in Singapore is seeking a professional to support and manage virtualization platforms including AIX and VMware. Business Function

Group Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. Majority of the Bank's operational processes and inspire are managed by Group T&O to delight our business partners through the multiple banking delivery channels.

Responsibilities

This is a role within the Technology unit. The incumbent will support various virtualization platforms’ deployment and operation, including:

1. To build and operate virtualization platform, including AIX, Oracle/RedHat KVM and VMware virtualization.

• Manage the end-to-end deployment and delivery of the virtualization infrastructure from deployment planning, setup & testing, pre-production readiness to production cutover. Conduct proper transition from Project to Operations before project closure.
• Understand the solution, scope and deliverables of the project, review the implementation and cutover strategy and work towards executing a successful project cutover.
• Collaborate with Solution Engineer, Application teams, Infrastructure SME’s and service providers to meet the project objectives and schedule, and address issues that arise in the project through timely escalation.
• Prepare and submit the necessary change requests and requisition for the deployment of infrastructure for the project, such as facility/VM request, IP/DNS/Hostname request, SAN requisition, etc.
• Deploy infrastructure setup according to the Bank policies/standards and approved solution design.
• Manage risks and escalation encountered during project deployment and drive towards resolution.
• Achieve target SLA for Infrastructure Provisioning and complete project deployment as per agreed schedule and plans.

1. To provision VM for the target virtualization platform, including adhoc cpu/memory/disk resource changes.
2. To perform daily health check on the virtualization platforms.
3. To perform firmware/OS patching on hypervisors/virtualization tools, including EOS/EOL upgrade.
4. To participate in shift work to cover critical hours onsite and 24x7 offsite.
5. To support VM migration between virtualization platforms.
6. To work with vendor on virtualization/hypervisor problem encountered and apply the resolution steps to prevent future occurrences.
7. To develop scripts that help to automate daily health check tasks.
8. To participate in PDC/SDC migration.

Competencies

1. Strong knowledge on Oracle/RedHat KVM server, VMware virtualization, and/or AIX PowerVM.
2. Good knowledge of Data Center and end to end IT infrastructure from Data Center facilitating, network infrastructure, storage, SAN, server hardware to operating system, extending to middleware, database and good analytical knowledge of generic application behaviour.
3. Candidate with operational experience, preferably in support of critical application systems will have an advantage.
4. Ability to work in team and to pick up transforming technology in the arena of server virtualization.
5. Skilled in scripting language to automate operation tasks in server management.
6. Knowledge on Excel and PowerPoint.
