About the job Human Resources Generalist

Syzygy Plasmonics Inc. (Houston, Texas) is a deep‑decarbonization company. It builds reactors that use light instead of heat to electrify chemical manufacturing and power a cleaner, safer world. Utilizing technology licensed from Rice University and advanced engineering, Syzygy is commercializing a universal light‑driven reactor platform. When powered with renewable electricity, this tunable technology reduces both cost and emissions from many different chemical reactions.

Job Summary

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource department and perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations to the organization.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the full life cycle recruitment process from sourcing to offer.
  • Build a talent pipeline for future opportunities.
  • Aid in the development of job postings and sourcing strategies.
  • Prepare recruitment materials and post jobs to appropriate job boards.
  • Screen candidates' job applications and secure proper documentation.
  • Conduct interviews using various reliable recruiting and selection tools/methods to filter candidates.
  • Onboard new employees to become fully integrated; perform new hire orientation.
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment‑related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains accurate and up‑to‑date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior‑level HR staff or management.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records; performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • May assist with payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors.
  • Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization‑wide meetings, employee recognition events, etc.
  • Provides clerical support to the HR department; performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience working in the human resources field.
  • SHRM‑CP or PHR a plus.
