Job description
Responsibilities
  • Administer, maintain and implement new improvement on 5S activities, Occupational Safety and Health Management and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Standards within the Company.
  • Administer work procedures, safety permit systems, in-house safety rules and regulations to control occupational safety and health risks.
  • Review and update compliance to local legislation, acts and regulations pertaining to workplace safety, health and fire safety, and its related local standards and codes of practice.
  • Maintain emergency response procedures and brief production teams on emergency response procedures and rescue operations related to fire, toxic gas releases.
  • Review and carry out risk assessment of all work processes and activities to manage and control safety and health risks, fire and explosion risks within the Company’s premises.
  • Coordinate and monitor annual testing and maintenance programme for fire protection systems, facilities and fire safety control measures with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan, organize and conduct safety induction training and education programme, and promotional activities for the plant employees and stakeholders to promote safety culture and awareness.
  • Plan and coordinate training programmes for plant employees to ensure that legal compliances are met.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Company from time to time including coverage of assigned duties when colleagues are out of office.
Competency Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering / Environmental Safety / Occupational Safety and Health or related field.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in petroleum/ petrochemical/ chemical industry.
  • Registered Safety Officer with Ministry of Manpower.
  • Competency in Confined Space Assessor, Workplace Safety and Health and Working at Height Manager courses.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative requirements, regulations and best practices.
  • Qualification as Fire Safety Manager recognized by SCDF to be registered as site FSM will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001 will be an advantage.
  • Possess good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work as a team player.
  • Organised and has good initiative attributes with a can-do attitude.
