Job summary

A home-grown shipping company in Singapore seeks an HR Manager to manage all HR functions including payroll and performance management. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in an SME or start-up and a proven record of setting up HR policies. You will work closely with the MD and department heads to create a robust HR framework. This role is highly operational and requires strong people management skills, with a focus on influencing and teamwork in a small environment.

Job description

Established for more than 30 years, my client is a home-grown company in the shipping business that has earned a reputation as a trusted partner in the maritime industry. Due to their business expansion, they have established another business entity to provide marine services to serve the ever-evolving marine industry to meet the needs of the escalating service standards.

About the role

Reporting directly to the MD, the HR Manager is a newly created role and will be responsible for managing the full spectrum of HR including payroll processing, employee life cycle, develop and design performance management framework as well as to set up internal HR governance. You will work closely with all the department heads and partner closely with the MD to create a robust HR framework and structure. You will get the opportunity to design and develop HR policies and processes in partnership with the MD. You will also play an advisory role to the MD and lead the people agenda in this newly start up entity.

What you will bring along with you

We are looking for someone who with at least 8 years of relevant experience in an SME and/or start-up environment. You will bring along with you a full HR generalist experience with full payroll processing expertise, a strong and positive mindset with great people management and influencing skills. Proven track records of setting up HR policies and processes at a local level with a robust understanding of MOM regulations are a mandatory requirement to succeed in this role. This is a highly operational role and will not require a strategically strong individual. The ideal candidate would be someone who enjoys working in a small team to aid in the success and flourishing of a home-grown business.
