HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS | SPORTS INDUSTRY

Our Client is a Sports Organisation driving the development of its Sport at all levels. They are passionate about inspiring participation, supporting talent, and understand how their success can unite communities. With an ambitious vision for the future, the Organisation is committed to fostering excellence for their product, ensuring inclusiveness, accessibility and a source of pride.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Head of Communications leads the development and delivery of the communications strategy, ensuring clear, consistent, and proactive messaging across all channels. This role exists to strengthen the reputation of the Sport and the Client by driving effective media engagement, overseeing content output, and supporting the Organisation's priorities.

  • Lead a team to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy
  • Oversee all media relations, managing proactive and reactive engagement
  • Lead the planning and delivery of key announcements, campaigns, and organisational messaging across digital, press, and broadcast channels
  • Manage crisis and issues communications, ensuring timely and consistent responses to protect and enhance the Organisation's reputation
  • Work closely with Marketing on content strategy for digital and social platforms, ensuring high-quality brand-aligned output

You should be a passionate communications professional who has led a small team with the above track record across both digital and traditional media. Prior sports industry related experience is naturally a plus but is not required. Due to the nature of sports, you have to be prepared to attend priority events where travel is required.
