Job summary

A leading pharmaceutical firm in Singapore is seeking a seasoned business development professional to develop strategies for innovative product types and lead licensing negotiations. The ideal candidate has over 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry, strong negotiation skills, and a proven track record in managing alliances. This role offers an opportunity to manage P&L and mentor a business development team.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company’s business development strategy to expand therapeutic areas and product types (innovative, biosimilars, complex generics, etc.).
  • Identify and assess emerging market trends, competitor activities, and partnership opportunities to guide portfolio strategy.
  • Proactively source, evaluate, and prioritize in-licensing, co-development, and partnership opportunities from biotech and pharmaceutical companies across the key regions.
  • Lead deal negotiations covering term sheets, license agreements, supply/distribution agreements, and alliance frameworks.
  • Oversee cross-functional due diligence (medical, regulatory, finance, legal, commercial) to ensure robust evaluation of assets.
  • Prepare and present business cases, risk assessments, and financial analyses to the Board.
  • Responsible for managing P&L, particularly in North Asia or Latin America after geographic expansion to those regions.
  • Build and manage relationships with regulators, KOLs, partners, and distributors.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a business development team.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Marketing, Finance, HR) to enable onboarding and integration of new products.
  • Track and report BD KPIs, licensing milestones, and portfolio contribution to overall EBITDA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in business development or licensing within pharmaceutical industry; prior exposure to biosimilars and/or complex generics highly valued.
  • Proven track record in executing licensing deals and managing alliances with multinational pharmaceutical and biotech partners.
  • Financial literacy, including valuation methodologies and P&L management.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and cross-cultural stakeholder management skills.
  • Regional experience in North Asia (Japan / Korea / Taiwan) or Latin America is a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to thrive in a high-growth, dynamic environment.
