The Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) at JPMorgan Chase is pivotal in advancing the firm's data and analytics capabilities, ensuring strong adherence to data & AI risk & control while enabling the data & analytics strategy for superior decision‑making and business outcomes to serve our clients and markets. By leveraging data & AI/ML, the CDAO develops innovative solutions to support commercial goals, enhance productivity, and manage risks. The Asia Pacific Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) advances the firm's data and analytics strategy, platforms, solutions, capabilities, and governance to deliver trustworthy, responsible, innovative, and commercially valuable outcomes across the APAC markets and businesses.

The Head of AI/ML Capabilities, APAC is a critical role that is responsible for enabling the firm's AI and machine learning strategy across the region by leading the development, refinement, and/or advancement and deployment of sophisticated AI/ML capabilities, collaborating with agile teams to create and enhance trusted products that support transformative business outcomes. Managing a high‑performing team of AI, machine learning, and data science professionals, you will foster a culture of experimentation and continuous learning. Working closely with global and regional stakeholders—​including technology, business, and functions teams—you will identify opportunities, translating business requirements into robust technical execution to deliver impactful solutions, and advance the firm's AI/ML agenda. A critical focus will be establishing and nurturing common capabilities, best practices, and reusable frameworks to ensure consistency and excellence across business functions. The individual will steer the evolution from traditional to agentic, generative, and autonomous AI systems by architecting, deploying, and optimizing advanced AI solutions, championing MLOps and cloud‑native best practices, and collaborating with engineering and product teams to deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, deployment, and scaling of advanced AI/ML models, applications, and platforms in partnership with engineering and data science teams.
  • Champion the adoption and enablement of machine learning solutions and emerging technologies, identifying high‑impact use cases and facilitating custom workflow development.
  • Drive the operationalization of AI/ML capabilities across business units, collaborating with senior leadership to identify opportunities for transformation and improvement.
  • Oversee and actively participate in the development, training, validation, deployment, and optimization of AI/ML models and assets. Guide teams in selecting appropriate algorithms, frameworks, and cloud platforms (e.g., Databricks, AWS, Azure) for each use case.
  • Architect robust, scalable, and modular AI/ML solutions that address business needs. This includes designing system architectures for statistical models, LLMs, agentic systems, and analytics platforms, ensuring seamless integration with existing enterprise infrastructure.
  • Manage and inspire a high‑performing team of AI, machine learning, and data science experts, fostering a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning.
  • Communicate complex AI/ML concepts and strategies to non‑technical stakeholders, serving as a bridge between technical teams and business leadership.
  • Adopt and embed governance frameworks and ethical guidelines to ensure the safe, responsible, and compliant use of AI/ML, in accordance with regional and global regulations.
  • Lead rigorous technical reviews of all AI/ML initiatives, including architecture assessments, code reviews, and solution assurance processes. Ensure that solutions meet enterprise standards for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Build and nurture strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including technology vendors, academic institutions, and industry bodies.
  • Scan the market for emerging AI/ML trends and solutions, assess their potential, and lead experimentation and adoption efforts to maintain a competitive edge.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Formal or certification on AI/ML solution development, delivery, and technical leadership within financial services or a similar domain and 15+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Deep expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, NLP, deep learning, LLM, Generative AI, and agentic models' architecture.
  • Proven track record in enabling delivery of impactful AI/ML solutions through technical leadership and cross‑team facilitation.
  • Hands‑on experience in Python, PySpark, SQL, PyTorch, and cloud platforms (Databricks, AWS, Azure), and advanced applied ML areas such as GPU optimization, finetuning, embedding models, inference, prompt engineering, evaluation, and RAG (Similarity Search).
  • Strong stakeholder management, executive‑level communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience leading and mentoring high‑performing technical teams.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and inspire senior leadership.
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset, curiosity, and passion for innovation and continuous learning.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment and drive meaningful change.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Experience with cloud‑based AI/ML platforms, advanced analytics, and machine learning operations.
  • Exposure to developer frameworks for agentic AI and machine learning development.
  • Hands‑on experience building or customizing AI/ML tools and workflows.
  • Familiarity with ethical AI/ML practices and governance frameworks.
  • Experience in the financial services industry, particularly in APAC.
  • Prior experience managing globally distributed technical teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
