Data Policy Specialist – Data Governance & Compliance
  • Working Hours: Mon-Fri
  • Location: Central
  • Remuneration: Up to $9,000 + AWS

The Data Governance & Compliance Department drives the organisation’s data management strategy, ensuring data is handled securely and responsibly. This role shapes data policies, strengthens governance and consent practices, and collaborates closely with internal teams and external partners to support a more data-driven organisation.

What You Will Be Working On
  • Develop and refine organisation-wide data policies, governance standards, and frameworks to support evolving operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and operationalise governance practices covering areas such as Third-Party Data Oversight, Consent Governance, Data Sharing protocols, and data-related contractual obligations.
  • Conduct reviews of data risks and propose actionable mitigation measures and governance controls.
  • Provide guidance to project teams on applying data protection and privacy principles for new initiatives, products, and data-exchange scenarios.
  • Review, draft, and advise on data protection, confidentiality, and related clauses within agreements to ensure compliance with internal governance rules.
  • Oversee and assess data access requests, ensuring appropriate safeguards, approvals, and accountability measures are consistently applied.
  • Create communication materials, training content, and outreach sessions to enhance organisational understanding of data governance practices.
  • Facilitate governance discussions with internal and external stakeholders and act as the main point of contact for data-related policy matters.
  • Support ongoing optimisation of governance processes by identifying pain points, recommending enhancements, and improving workflow efficiency.
What We Are Looking For
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data governance, data protection, or information management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively and manage diverse stakeholders.
  • Meticulous, adaptable, and comfortable operating in dynamic environments.
  • Additional certifications or experience in privacy, governance, or cybersecurity would be advantageous.
