Purpose And Scope
  • We are seeking an experienced Geologist with specialized expertise in tunnel and underground construction projects within the built environment sector. The successful candidate will provide critical geological and geotechnical insights to support safe and efficient design and execution of tunnelling works, deep excavations, and related infrastructure projects.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
  • Conduct geological and geotechnical investigations for tunnel alignments, shafts, and underground structures.
  • Assess rock mass properties, soil conditions, and groundwater behaviour for tunnelling feasibility.
  • Perform risk assessments for ground stability, settlement, and water ingress during tunnelling operations.
  • Collaborate with design teams to integrate geological data into tunnel design, support systems, and excavation methods.
  • Monitor and interpret instrumentation data during tunnel construction for ground movement and stability.
  • Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, ground models, and recommendations for contractors and project managers.
  • Ensure compliance with local tunnelling codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
Qualification & Experiences
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, or Earth Sciences (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in tunnel and underground construction projects.
  • Proven track record in geotechnical analysis for tunnelling, including TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) and NATM (New Austrian Tunnelling Method).
  • Expertise in rock mechanics, soil‑structure interaction, and hydrogeology.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, Rocscience, GeoStudio).
Licenses & Certifications (Mandatory/ Preferred)
  • Professional Geologist (PG) License – Required where applicable.
  • Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) – Preferred for advanced tunnelling roles.
  • OSHA Safety Certification – For site safety compliance.
  • Tunnel Safety & Risk Management Certification – Preferred.
  • Membership in Geological or Tunnelling Professional Bodies (e.g., ITA – International Tunnelling Association).

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for complex underground conditions.
  • Excellent communication and technical reporting abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams under challenging site conditions.
