A catering company in Singapore is seeking a Food Hygiene Officer responsible for ensuring food safety and hygiene compliance across Halal and Non-Halal kitchens. The role includes conducting inspections, maintaining HACCP documentation, and training staff on hygiene practices. Candidates must hold a Food Safety Certificate and have experience in high-volume food production. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are required for this position. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a responsible Food Hygiene Officer. The Food Hygiene Officer is responsible for ensuring that all food handling, preparation, storage, and sanitation practices across both the Halal and Non-Halal kitchens comply with Singapore food safety regulations, MUIS Halal requirements (where applicable), and the company’s internal hygiene standards.
This role supports operational teams by conducting inspections, maintaining HACCP documentation, ensuring Halal integrity, and driving continuous improvement in food safety practices.
Implement and maintain food safety policies following SFA regulations, HACCP principles, and company SOPs.
Ensure both Halal and Non-Halal kitchens comply with food hygiene requirements, temperature controls, pest management, and facility cleanliness.
Monitor proper segregation of Halal and Non-Halal operations to prevent cross-contamination.
Support the Halal Team in complying with MUIS Halal Certification Requirements.
Verify that Halal-certified suppliers, ingredients, and processes are correctly used.
Ensure proper handling, labeling, receipt of ingredients, and storage to maintain Halal integrity.
Assist in internal Halal audits and prepare documentation for certification renewal.
Conduct routine hygiene inspections across both kitchen zones, including : Food storage areas, Preparation zones, Chillers/freezers, Equipment and utensils, Staff hygiene and attire
Track and record food temperatures, storage conditions, food expiry, and preparation processes.
Ensure chemical storage and usage comply with safety standards.
Maintain all food safety records: cleaning logs, temperature logs, receiving records, and pest control reports.
Maintain and update HACCP plans, CCP monitoring records, and traceability documents.
Report non-compliance issues and propose corrective actions.
Prepare documents for internal audits, SFA inspections, and MUIS audits.
Conduct training on:: Proper food handling and hygiene practices, Allergen control, Halal requirements (for Halal kitchen staff), Personal hygiene and illness reporting
Assist with onboarding new kitchen staff to ensure they understand hygiene SOPs.
Ensure cleaning schedules (daily, weekly, monthly, deep cleaning) are properly executed.
Verify correct handling and dilution of sanitizers and cleaning agents.
Follow up on pest control service reports and ensure preventive actions are taken.
Enforce strict separation between Halal and Non-Halal zones, equipment, utensils, and waste areas.
Conduct random checks to ensure Halal SOPs are fully followed.
Implement allergen segregation and labeling procedures.
Certificate in Food Safety Course Level 3 or 4 (or equivalent).
Preferably trained in HACCP / ISO 22000 / Food Safety Management Systems.
Experience working in catering, central kitchen, hotel, or high-volume food production.
Knowledge of MUIS Halal Certification Requirements (advantage).
Strong inspection, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills and ability to train staff.
Ability to work independently and enforce compliance firmly but professionally.
