Job summary

A leading manufacturer of polymer products is seeking a Laboratory Manager in Singapore. The role involves planning and executing laboratory analyses, ensuring compliance with safety and testing protocols, and providing training to laboratory staff. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s in Chemistry or relevant experience in chemical engineering. Knowledge of polymer science and familiarity with ISO9001:2015 standards are desired. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently and on Jurong Island.

• Ability to work overtime and on Jurong Island.

Job description

Reporting to Manager, Laboratory, this position has to take up the following responsibilities in the manufacturing of Alpha-Olefin Copolymers, namely TAFMER™ & EPR products in the plant.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily analysis for laboratory technicians
• Ensure daily planned work are executed.
• Ensure testing are performed in accordance to approved Laboratory SOPs
• Ensure that calibration and preventive maintenance for all Laboratory equipment are scheduled and duly conducted with timeliness
• Ensure that all Laboratory equipment are well-maintained
• Perform laboratory inventory control. Ensure lab consumables and spare parts are available.
• Ensure and upkeep good Laboratory safety practices and housekeeping
• Provide laboratory SOPs training to new staff.
• Conduct shipment and in-process training and qualification in accordance to approved Laboratory SOPs
• Provide testing support and undertake other assignments during lab projects, production trial and other ad-hoc activities in the plant
• Provide support to other duties as and when directed by immediate superior

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related discipline. Fresh graduate may apply.
• Alternative, Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline with at least 5 years of relevant experience
• Knowledge in polymer science and familiarity with ISO9001:2015 and ISO14001:2015 are preferred
• Self-motivated, independent and resourceful
• Possess good communication skills and presentation skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Able to perform overtime work when required
• Willing to work in Jurong Island
