Job Description
  • Responsible for supervising or executing maintenance and operation of all Engine Room equipment and systems under the direction of the Maintenance Superintendent and to be proactive, in order to maintain a high standard of maintenance and operation, so that they are carried out technically efficiently, in compliance with schedules, MODEC procedures, maintenance philosophy, national and international regulations and standards, in order to contribute so that all equipment and systems are operational and preserved for the assigned unit.
  • Perform the test and dosage for boilers and cooling systems, as well as the register of the information collected.
  • Guarantee the perfect functioning of Engine Room equipment by reporting deficiencies and malfunctioning, discussing and analyzing technical and spares issues with the Maintenance Superintendent as well as proposing solutions for the weak points using the technical knowledge and experience.
  • Ensure compliance with MODEC Permit to Work system and isolation standards, by acting as Originator for all PTWs for the task performed by Engine Room team, being aware about their latest revision, and acting as Area Authority of Engine Room when delegated by the Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Contribute to the proper planning of offshore activities by supporting Planner Offshore and Maintenance Supt in the prioritization and scheduling of services to be performed onboard, participating in discussions along with other Offshore leaderships, when requested, and duly approving all WOs for Engine Room works on the CMMS.
  • Assist to Planner and Maintenance Supt to review the Maintenance plan by providing inputs for the plan based on own technical knowledge and experience. To inform CMMS team if detected any equipment not covered by the Maintenance Plan.
  • Ensure that bunker operation is properly conducted by Engine Room team , in accordance to Bunkering procedure, ensuring that all relevant check lists are updated .
  • Contribute to the unit's annual budget planning (expenses and investments) by participating of the corporate planning, providing information about resources, replacements, services and materials needs and other expenses used in its activities, liaising with Superintendents and Technician to ensure accurate information.
