We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as aEmerging Markets Rates Trader.

In this role you will:
  • Market Maker for interest rate derivatives to HSBC customers, with a focus on South Asia and Korea Local currency debt and derivatives. Expertise in INR will be a positive
  • Manage and monitor desk market risk and ensure trading activity is in compliance with risk limits. Effectively maintains various risk positions whilst adhering to the Bank’s risk appetite
  • Business Development. Develops sales/client/market contacts, and explores possibilities for expanding product market share with the local and regional teams, at a time of increasing competition, narrower margins and increasing regulation
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the product area including market liquidity and volatility, pricing and trading strategies, and regulatory considerations
  • Ensure trading activity is in compliance with the permitted instrument list
  • Ensure a culture that is aligned with core HSBC values of responsible conduct at all times
  • Maintain high standards of professional conduct and behaviour. Ensure that all transactions deliver fair outcomes for our customers and do not disrupt the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets; and are in line with the HSBC Code of Conduct
  • Cooperate with sales and structuring teams in providing clients tailor‑made products, as needed; assists in ensuring the long term viability of the bank’s trading businesses through the development of new products and improvement of processes
  • Contribute to set up of ASEAN buildout
  • Digitize bond and IRS offerings
To be successful you will need:
  • Market making experience in bonds, interest rates and derivatives with detailed knowledge of all aspects of business’ trading area. Experience in trading both bonds and derivatives markets is required.
  • Bachelor's or equivalent University degree, or equivalent work‑related experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with very strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task and to work well under pressure, strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, has attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and manage complex and diverse instruments.

The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting.
