Job description:
Nursing duties such as but are not limited to:
  • Provide high-level nursing care for emergency and critically ill patients during day shifts.
  • Monitor and manage patients in the ICU and emergency ward, including small animals and exotic species.
  • Assist ECC veterinarians with emergency consultations, diagnostics, triage, and critical care procedures.
  • Prepare and manage emergency cases for surgery and assist in post-operative recovery.
  • Perform anaesthesia monitoring and post-anaesthesia recovery under veterinary supervision.
  • Carry out diagnostics such as blood sampling, IV catheter placements, radiographs, and TFAST/AFAST as directed.
  • Accurately update patient medical records and communicate ongoing treatment plans to the veterinary team.
  • Mentor junior nurses and nursing interns, offering guidance, hands‑on training, and support.
  • Participate in daily inpatient rounds and ensure smooth transitions between departments.
  • Support inter‑departmental coordination during emergency patient transfers or specialist referrals.
  • Ensure ECC treatment areas and ICU wards are clean, organized, and well‑stocked.
  • Collaborate closely with veterinarians and specialists to deliver a high standard of care and patient outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Degree or Diploma in veterinary technology or relevant nursing qualification.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in the veterinary industry, including emergency and critical care settings.
  • Minimum three (3) years in a leadership or senior nursing role preferred.
  • Proficient in ECC protocols, anaesthesia monitoring, and handling high‑acuity patients.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Passion for emergency care and ongoing learning in a fast‑paced environment.
