Job Description
Position Overview

As a Chemist in our R&D Lab at Aprisium, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and testing of novel water quality and contamination analysis technologies. Your responsibilities will primarily involve conducting laboratory experiments, analysing data, and collaborating with the senior research team to achieve project objectives. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual who is eager to learn, grow their skills, and make a significant impact on the development of innovative solutions.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technology and have a direct impact on shaping the future of sustainability in the environmental industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Method Development & Validation: Design, develop, and validate electrochemical, spectrophotometric, and wet-chemistry methods for real-time, at-source detection of contaminants across water and engineered fluid applications.

  • Analyser & Sensor Integration: Work closely with hardware, fluidics, and electronics teams to integrate chemical methods into autonomous, IoT-enabled analysers, ensuring robustness, repeatability, and field-readiness.

  • Testing, QC & Documentation: Define and execute laboratory and field testing protocols, calibration routines, and quality‑control procedures; maintain clear, auditable documentation aligned with internal standards and external validation needs.

  • Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement: Investigate anomalies, interferences, and performance drift in sensors and reagents; drive root-cause analysis and continuous improvement in chemistry, processes, and materials.

  • Regulatory & Customer Support: Support certifications, pilots, and customer deployments by providing technical inputs, test data interpretation, and chemistry‑related insights to internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Poly or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Previous experience or coursework in Analytical Chemistry or related areas is desirable.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques, instruments, and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and scientific software, such as Python, would be nice to have but not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced startup environment and adapt to changing project needs.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively present ideas and results to team members.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and willingness to take on new challenges.
