An electrical engineer in construction designs, installs, and maintains building electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, and low-voltage systems. They ensure all work complies with safety codes, manage project budgets and timelines, supervise technicians on-site, and coordinate with contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Planning: Create electrical construction drawings, specifications, and schematics for power distribution, lighting, and communication systems.
  • Site Supervision & Installation: Oversee electrical installations, ensuring compliance with design specifications, technical standards, and safety regulations (e.g., NEC).
  • Project Management: Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely completion.
  • Testing & Commissioning: Test electrical components and systems (high/low voltage) to ensure proper functionality.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety procedures, conduct hazard assessments, and ensure compliance with local and federal regulations.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, architects, and mechanical/structural engineers (MEP) to coordinate construction activities.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: Previous experience in construction, site management, or relevant MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) work.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and engineering analysis tools.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of electrical codes, safety regulations, and building systems.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work on-site, which may involve climbing, bending, and kneeling for inspections, as well as navigating construction sites.
