Job Description
Purpose

This position will work closely with senior management of the Brookfield Renewable Group Asia Pacific Region. The role of Director, Taxation will have the responsibilities to manage the development and execution of the tax strategy, planning initiatives and risk management practices for the Brookfield Renewable Group. The role will also be responsible for overseeing and ensuring all tax matters are appropriately addressed, including M&A tax support, tax due diligence, tax risk management, and tax compliance and tax reporting for Brookfield Renewable Group’s portfolio companies. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career development and growth as a tax professional in a highly dynamic and challenging work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the tax planning and strategy efforts for the Brookfield Renewable Group in Asia Pacific.
  • Lead tax due diligence for M&A transactions.
  • Proactively communicate and recommend tax strategies and solutions to senior management.
  • Provide ongoing tax advice and support to finance, accounting, legal and investments.
  • Oversee all tax work provided by third party advisors.
  • Prepare and work with external advisors to compile transfer pricing documentation.
  • Identify and communicate tax risks to senior management on a timely basis.
  • Maintain and expand technical tax knowledge through professional development activities.
  • Oversight of tax compliance and tax provision/reporting. Work with offshore tax teams to adhere to all tax compliance requirements.
  • Stay abreast of all new tax legislation affecting the Asia Pacific region and communicate with the internal leadership team. Ensure Brookfield’s tax risk management policy and other policies are adhered to.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws that may impact Brookfield’s tax positions, including tax accounting implications.
  • Assist and/or work on tax planning and other ad‑hoc projects, as required, from time to time; and other relevant work assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of corporate tax experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm, law firm or industry with a multinational corporate group.
  • Qualified CA and/or lawyer.
  • Strong technical knowledge of tax rules in the Asia Pacific Region including corporate reorganisations.
  • Understanding of and experience with cross‑border tax issues and tax accounting under IFRS.
  • Manage complex tax matters independently with support from third party consultants and global tax team.
  • Ability to multi‑task and work in a very fast‑paced and team‑oriented environment.
  • Excellent project management skills and applies a pragmatic and efficient approach to handling complex assignments.
  • Experienced in M&A, Due Diligence, and corporate tax sectors.
  • May involve some travel.
