Job description

As a senior strategic leader in ResMed’s Supply Chain Planning organization, the Director of Supply Chain Network – Strategic Planning anchors the vision and execution of our global network master plan. This role is central to realizing our multi-year supply chain planning ambition: to build a scalable, demand-responsive, digitally enabled, and risk-resilient end-to-end network that consistently delivers world-class customer availability, uncompromising quality, and competitive value.

This leader oversees the orchestration of the global network design and planning flow-path strategy—ensuring that long-term structural decisions seamlessly translate into executable, efficient, and reliable operating models across all nodes. The role demands exceptional cross-functional influence, deep systems thinking, and the ability to turn complex trade-offs into compelling, data-driven strategic recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
Network Master Planning & Strategic Orchestration
  • Lead and orchestrate the global supply chain network master plan, including manufacturing footprint, DC locations, flow‑path design, make‑vs‑buy strategies, transportation lanes, and capacity frameworks.

  • Partner with Network Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, Procurement, and Commercial teams to align on network scenarios, capacity strategies, and end‑to‑end implications.

  • Build and evaluate multi‑scenario network strategies that optimize resilience, cost‑to‑serve, and customer experience.

Operationalization of Network Strategy
  • Operationalize approved network designs into clear plans, ensuring plants, DCs, transportation teams, and planning functions fully understand target flows, policies, and performance expectations.

  • Lead cross‑functional orchestration of network changes—new sites, regionalization efforts, lane shifts, closures—from concept through steady‑state enablement.

  • Act as the strategic conduit between long‑term design and short/mid‑term execution, resolving structural constraints that prevent the network from operating as designed.

Network Governance, Capability Building & Executive Influence
  • Develop and maintain a multi‑year planning and capacity master plan with full alignment from global manufacturing and distribution leaders.

  • Co‑create the 5–10‑year scalability plan that supports aggressive growth targets while reducing structural risk through diversification, redundancy, and capacity flexibility.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders across Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, and Distribution & Logistics.

  • Co‑create and govern the Network Playbook—comprising decision frameworks, policy guardrails, network maps, and standard flow‑path assumptions.

  • Present network strategies, trade‑offs, and investment recommendations to executive leadership and the Supply Chain Planning leadership team.

Key Competencies
  • Exceptional collaboration and influence across complex global organizations.

  • Ability to simplify systemic complexity into clear strategic direction.

  • Executive‑level storytelling and decision‑framing.

  • Comfort operating fluidly between high‑level strategy and tactical detail to ensure executional excellence.

  • End‑to‑end systems thinker who anticipates interdependencies, risks, and cascading impacts across the value chain.

Leadership Behaviours
  • Shapes and champions a forward‑looking supply chain vision anchored in resilience, scalability, and digital enablement.

  • Builds high‑performing cross‑functional coalitions that thrive in ambiguity and complexity.

  • Drives accountability for network performance through clarity, governance, and alignment.

  • Models change leadership and inspires confidence through structured, transparent, and decisive communication.

  • Ability to lead and coach experts.

Key Priorities in the first 12‑24 months
  • Delivery of a fully aligned multi‑year network master plan endorsed by Supply Chain, Commercial, and Operations leadership.

  • Operationalize major network transitions (e.g., new sites, closures, lane shifts) to assess feasibility and execution of all transitions and trade‑offs required.

  • Increased cross‑functional engagement and adherence to the Network Playbook.

  • Demonstrated improvements in availability, value & quality.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business; Master’s/MBA preferred.

  • 12–15+ years of broad supply chain experience: planning, transformation, network design, logistics, or multi‑node orchestration.

  • Proven success influencing large cross‑functional teams without direct authority.

  • Deep understanding of end‑to‑end supply chain flows, constraints, and global manufacturing & distribution dynamics.

  • Experience with complex, global, multi‑node networks in high‑growth or regulated industries.

  • Strong analytical skills and expertise in supply chain design tools (APS systems, LLamasoft/Supply Chain Guru, Coupa, etc.).

  • Demonstrated change leadership across multi‑year programs.

  • Strong program leadership of multi‑year, cross‑functional initiatives.
