The Director, Software & Applications Management is responsible for providing strategic leadership and governance over enterprise software and application development, ensuring high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions that support business growth. The role oversees end-to-end application lifecycle management, drives innovation through Proof-of-Concept (PoC) initiatives, and ensures alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and risk standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Application Strategy
- Provide overall strategic leadership and direction for enterprise software and application development, maintenance, and enhancement across the organisation.
- Define and execute the application development strategy, technology roadmap, and architecture standards in alignment with business and digital transformation objectives.
- Oversee resource planning, budgeting, and capability development to ensure sustainable delivery of software and application initiatives.
Software & Application Development Governance
- Oversee the acquisition, design, development, integration, and implementation of software systems and enterprise applications.
- Monitor and govern the quality, performance, scalability, and reliability of software solutions throughout the application lifecycle.
- Oversee Proof-of-Concept (PoC) development to evaluate new technologies, platforms, and application features before enterprise adoption.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance on software design, platform capabilities, and solution optimization.
- Establish, enforce, and continuously improve software development governance, standards, and best practices.
Security, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure security, data protection, and risk management considerations are embedded into software and application design and development.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise IT policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
- Identify and manage technology and delivery risks, ensuring application resilience, stability, and business continuity.
Delivery & Quality Management
- Oversee end-to-end software and application delivery, ensuring high-quality execution, timely delivery, and alignment with agreed requirements.
- Drive quality assurance, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement to maintain stable and reliable production systems.
- Proactively manage issues and risks to prevent service disruption, financial impact or stakeholder escalation.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as a senior technology advisor to business stakeholders and executive management on software and application capabilities.
- Oversee vendor and partner management, including software solution providers, system integrators, and technology partners.
- Collaborate closely with product, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure integrated and seamless solution delivery.
People & Capability Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop software engineering, application development, and technical leadership teams.
- Build a strong succession pipeline and second-line leadership team capable of independently managing application initiatives.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning across the application function.
Requirements / Skills & Competencies
- 10+ years of experience in software and application development, with significant experience in senior management or director-level roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in enterprise software development, application architecture, and platform governance.
- Strong experience in overseeing software quality, performance, scalability, and security.
- Proven leadership in managing large, complex software initiatives and cross-functional technical teams.
- Experience working with vendors, system integrators, and technology partners.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills; proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) is an advantage for regional client engagement.
- Based in Singapore on a full-time basis, with willingness to travel regionally as required.
